Ethicon Foundation Fund Travel Grants

The Ethicon Foundation Fund travel grants awards for overseas visits support fellows and members of the College in enhancing their specialty skills or gaining surgical experience not readily available in their home country. These grants are granted at the discretion of the Ethicon Foundation Fund Advisory Committee.

What Ethicon Foundation Fund Travel Grants is all about.

Ethicon Foundation Fund Travel Grants are warded to member of medical school who are in good stand. The grants are intended to support applications that wish to enhance a specialty skill or experience that is not routinely available in the applicant’s own country. Travel for the sole purpose of attending a scientific meeting will not be supported.

Eligibility Criteria for this program.

Training Grade AppointmentsUp to $1,000 for economy class travel.
Senior applicants consideredNot available for spouses/partners.
Approval from training authorityVisit duration: 3 to 12 months (up to 24 months considered).
UK trainees require GMC approval
Salary during the fellowship should be disclosed

Requirements for Ethicon Foundation Fund Travel Grants

  • Applicants with a good academic standing will be considered.
  • Candidates will normally be in training grade appointments.
  • Senior candidates may be considered at the discretion of the committee. 
  • Applicants of Ethicon Foundation Fund Travel Grants who want to upgrade a specialty skill or experience that may not be available in their home country are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants are required to obtain prior approval for the visit from the concerned training authority in the country of application.
  • UK trainees must provide confirmation/evidence of prospective approval from the GMC.

  1. Completed application form
  2. A letter of support from the head of the department, or consultant, under whom the applicant is currently working
  3. A letter of support from another, independent referee
  4. Confirmation from the Institute you are visiting.
