UMES Land-Grant Scholarship Program was originally aimed at guilding undergraduate students towards successful recruitment, retention, and educational achievements in there various field of study especially in the food and agricultural sciences and related fields. These scholarships come to life through generous funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) with the sole goal of encouraging students to pursue their educational goal in their chosen field.

    Requirements for UMES Land-Grant Scholarship Programs

    The following list are the eligibility requirements and how to go about this program:

    High school applicants must:

    • Be a U.S. citizen
    • Have applied for or have been accepted for admission to UMES (if not, click here to apply to UMES)
    • Will be enrolled at UMES no later than one year after the date of acceptance to UMES
    • Will be accepted into one of the following majors: General Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, Environmental Science or Human Ecology
    • Have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate with a high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.8 unweighted (on a 4.0 scale)
    • Intend to pursue a career in the food and agricultural sciences
    • Be enrolled full time in at least 15 course credits leading to an undergraduate degree in any of the four majors listed above each semester

    Benefits of this scholarship

    Successful students can get up to $15,000 a year if you’re an in-state student or a whopping sum of $25,000 if you’re coming from out of state. That’s some serious cash to cover your educational journey.
