This program is a comprehensive six-month initiative designed to engage companies involved in the UN Global Compact across various industries and geographic regions. The primary goal is to facilitate a rapid transition for businesses from making commitments to taking tangible actions on human rights and labor rights. This is achieved by instating a continuous human rights due diligence process to ensure sustained efforts in upholding these fundamental rights.

Scholarship Deadline:December 15, 2023.
  1. Identifying your responsibilities in upholding human rights and labor rights, as articulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
  2. Establishing a continuous human rights due diligence process aligned with international standards.
  3. Reporting and communicating on your human rights due diligence journey, including fulfilling the Communication on Progress—a mandatory annual public disclosure requirement for all participants in the UN Global Compact.


  1. A clear grasp of your company’s current position in its human rights journey.
  2. An evaluation of both existing and potential adverse human rights impacts, coupled with the capability to prioritize and take strategic actions.
  3. Proficiency in mitigating human rights impacts, incorporating effective grievance mechanisms and remedy procedures.
  4. Strategies for engaging stakeholders in understanding business impacts.
  5. A well-defined action plan to drive progress in human rights within your company and extend the impact beyond.
  6. Access to a network comprising peers, UN partners, and experts, fostering collective efforts to overcome persistent barriers to human rights due diligence.
  7. A certificate verifying the successful completion of the program.

To take part in the Business & Human Rights Accelerator, companies are required to be participants of the UN
Global Compact or willing to join. Your company should also be:

  • Currently engaged with a Global Compact Local Network in your region or willing to join
  • Willing to identify its human rights impacts and scope a core area of its value chain for further focus
  • Able to appoint two representatives to participate in Accelerator activities and peer-learning sessions
  • An executive-level representative to follow Accelerator developments, provide support and participate in high-level events
